Female Fantasy Art

From LoveToKnow Sci-Fi

Female fantasy art has come a long way from beginning when it was being used for science fiction accompaniments to being legitimate forms of art. From the soft lines of a sensuous female wizard to the piercing stare of a warrior, female fantasy art has mesmerized men as well as women with wonderful depictions of the fantastical.

Female Themes

Almost anything that pertains to fantasy can include women. First, take a look at the following list and try to remember some female fantasy art that you've seen from books or movies from that theme:

  • Angels
  • Fairies
  • Vampires (good or evil)
  • Aliens
  • Dragons (females pictured with dragons)
  • Goddesses
  • Morphed Females (usually women are half human half animal of some sort)
  • Goth/Dark Art
  • Sci-Fi Females (space epics, supernatural sci-fi, or alternate history stories are common for female fantasy art)

Female Fantasy Art Archetypes

Just as there are themes, there are types of fantasy females pictures that inhabit the many types of art. Some of the more common archetypes are:

  • The Warrior: in the beginning, men were commonly drawn as warriors, but artists quickly realized that women can be just as tough and mysterious and strong as males. The females are usually drawn with much more skin exposed and with long, flowing hair.
  • The Siren: this type of female can be good or bad as she has not really motives to do either. Perhaps she is lonely or just wants to experience more. Whatever her reasons, she is seductive—either by looks or by speech—and can draw any unsuspecting savior into her personal space. Women drawn with mermaid qualities, or other animal features fall into this category.
  • The Animal Whisperer: she is someone who is one with that animals. She can speak to them and call them whenever she needs to. The female is usually drawn shy and timid while relying on her animals for social protection.
  • The Vampire/Goth Female: Almost a siren, the vampire or Goth female is very sexy, often clothed in glossy black attire. Sometimes there are two women together for a more captivating picture.
  • The Goddess: this women is simply beautiful. Gorgeous eyes, silky hair, luscious lips and smooth skin adorn her body in pictures with Goddesses.

Collecting

Just as there are many great fantasy writers, there are a handful of fantasy artists that make up the excellent. Creating fantasy females just doesn't include drawing one with skimpy clothing: that's just not enough. Fantasy experts are finicky and want more than just a bare-skined lady battling it out with a dragon.
