Where to Find Star Trek Sound Effects

To download or listen to the Star Trek sound files, visit the following websites. Go to multiple websites because since most of them are fan-based, you may not find the exact one you are looking for because fans will usually upload their favorites. Besides, there may be another sound file you've forgotten about!

  • Media College contains clips from the Original Series, The Next Generation and Voyager. For the Original series, you'll find various sound effects from the computer including the Red Alert and the Transporter sound. Only one line from Kirk is available, which is "Captain's log, supplemental," but there are a few from Spock. Scotty and Sulu have a couple lines and there is even a sound file for the Tribble. The Next Generation list is lacking, but the famous lines of "Engage," "Make it so Number one," and "Computer, status report" from Picard are there. Data, Work, Locutus and different computer lines are also available. In the Voyager listing, character lines abound. Captain Janeway, Tuvok, The Doctor, Kes, Neelix and Tom are all represented.
  • If you are looking for series and movie themes, then go to Star Trek files. You will find the opening themes to each of the different television series to all nine Star Trek movies (the newest movie, Star Trek released in 2009 is not included). Also available on the site is the battle music for the Klingons and the Borg. There is also a clip of Picard playing the flute and Data's lifeform song. All songs are in MIDI format.
  • WavCentral has over 160 sound files in MP3 format for you to download and listen to. Many of the files are conversations or speeches from The Next Generation version of Star Trek, so if you are looking for something longer than a computer sound effect from this series, then this is the site to visit.
  • For sound clips from the Star Trek movies, go to Star Trek Movie Clips. Most of the clips are from Star Trek: the Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home and Star Trek VI, but they are the most popular lines from the movies. These files are in WAV format.
