The Immortals
From LoveToKnow Sci-Fi
The Immortals by James Gunn was reprinted by Pocket Books in 2004, with a new preface by the author and a new middle section recently published in ANALOG, where the original novelette, "New Blood," was first published in 1955. The novel was the basis for the 1969 ABC Movie of the Week, "The Immortal," with Christopher George, and the 1970-1971 television series also called "The Immortal." The novel describes the discovery of a man with blood that keeps him young and has the ability to rejuvenate, temporarily, old and dying people, and the race between the immortal man's attempt to spread his genetic improvement throughout humanity and the effort of powerful people to use him and his offspring as sources of the elixir of life.
