Time Travel to Alternate Timelines and
Parallel Worlds
From LoveToKnow Sci-Fi
Time travel to alternate timelines and parallel worlds has long been a theme in many science fiction novels and movies, but is time travel really possible?
Time Travel to Alternate Timelines and Parallel Worlds
Most people know time as linear – past, present and future. In reality, the past, present and future coexist simultaneously when outside the third dimension – Earth.
There Is No Timeline
If you can imagine that all time exists at once, then you quickly realize that the timeline philosophy governing our world is false. Quantum physics theorists maintain you can time travel and even jump into parallel worlds.
Theory of Parallel Worlds
Parallel world theories are difficult for some people to conceive. It may take a few tries to break through mental barriers established by cultural belief patterns, but once you do, you'll understand that you're more than the reflection you see in a mirror. As you begin to perceive this multi-dimensional reality, you understand there are endless copies of you living in infinite parallel worlds.
Human Consciousness Time Travel
Time travel theories encompass mechanical modes of time traveling as well as human consciousness time travel.
Memory Time Traveling
Is it a form of time travel each time you reflect on a past event in your life? Some scientists believe it is. Yet others argue that memories are mere recordings of events that your mind replays much like a computer. Some scientists believe your brain doesn't distinguish between memory and thought since your physical reactions to both a live event and a memory have the same vital sign reactions with no distinction between the two.
Meditation and Time Travel
Meditation gurus believe travel into the past and future is possible. You can astral project into the present by using latent abilities within your mind. Many documented cases of such time travel confirm travelers have accurately described events in each timeline visited.
Opening Your Mind to Time Travel
Many believe you can time travel with your mind. It's through meditation that you raise your vibrational pattern to elevate your consciousness to a higher frequency that allows you to move between worlds. Your altered vibrational pattern enables you to see what you previously believed were solid objects now shimmer under their vibrational pattern. This is because your vibrational pattern is in greater harmony with the surrounding world. It's believed that once you've mastered this technique, you can travel to different timelines for your current world or jump to parallel worlds.
Mechanism Time Travel
Mechanism time travel is easier to understand and is a popular choice in literature, film, and television.
Vehicle or Machine Time Travel
This kind of time travel is achieved by using a machine with a strong science behind it. A tangible, three-dimensional object often utilizes Einstein's theory of relativity of time and space. These elements are coupled with high speeds to propel the vehicle fast enough to transcend the speed of light and sound. This was used in the time travel TV series, Seven Days. In other theories, a machine is used to simulate the vibrational patterns of the meditative human body to propel the machine and occupant into the past or the future.
Wormhole Travel Theory
One-way travel through space via a wormhole is a concept made popular by the Syfy television series, SG-1(Stargate). Again, a device is used to achieve time travel. A vibrational pattern creates a wormhole that's guided by mathematical calculations through space to a specific physical location within the same timeline. Humans are then able to step through the time portal and travel great distances through space within a few seconds via the wormhole. Even though it's science-fiction, the wormhole theory is a popular one that many theorize could also allow travel into other dimensions or parallel worlds.
Black Holes and White Holes
Black holes are created when a star collapses and all surrounding matter is drawn into the hole. A white hole is the opposite through which all matter is repelled. Some theorists believe a wormhole could be opened between a black hole and a white hole. In effect, this wormhole bridge could remain open forever to allow non-stop travel to and from whatever destination you desire.
Limited Time Travel Theory
There is one time travel theory that simply hypothesizes that there's only one possible way you could time travel and that would be into the future, never into the past. Many scientists believe that Einstein's Theory of Relativity limits the way we can travel through time and space, which excludes traveling to the past.
Parallel Worlds, Cause and Effect
Many scientists believe that when time traveling and visiting parallel universes, you'll discover there are different versions of yourself and your life. This is because of the multitude of choices you make each day. Imagine what your life would be like had you not gone to college, become a doctor instead of an engineer, never turned that corner where you wrecked your car and were injured, ending your athletic career, and so on.
Theorists believe that each act (cause) has a multitude of reactions (effects). Each time you turn right, you turn left in an alternate timeline, which then creates another parallel existence. This creates a new set of circumstances, each of which has a multitude of choices with different results and so the chain reaction of events becomes infinite.
Time Travel Paradoxes
Some time travel to alternate timelines and parallel worlds theorists argue that if you travel back in time and kill your grandfather, you'll never be born. This kind of time travel creates a paradox that discourages time travel into the past. Some scientists, however, believe such an effect would be prevented because the action would not alter your timeline, but instead create a new branch of time, known as an alternate world or parallel world. Whichever time travel theory you choose to explore, you can be sure the end result will be a more open mind filled with more possibilities, similar to the multi-dimension worlds discussed.
