Transformers 2 New Robots

News of the Transformers 2 new robots started leaking to the public back in 2008 at the time when they made the official announcement for the movie's title: Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Hardcore fans ate up every slice of information the media served.

Revenge of the Fallen

Revenge of the Fallen opened with the Autobots hunting down a Decepticon R8 which was making trouble in Shanghai. The opening sequence did a great job of introducing some of the new Autobots like The Twins, Skids and Mudflap, designed to look like an ice cream truck but could divide into two smaller bots.

With all these bots involved in the chase you might have expected them to catch the Decpticon, but it wasn't meant to be. This opening scene sets things up for the audience to meet the Transformers 2 new robots and to see the need for help when the scope of the mission changes from killing Decepticons to something larger. Optimus is given a warning that, "The Fallen will rise again."

Human Factor

Humans Sam Witwicky and his girlfriend, Mikaela, also returned to the big screen to interact with the Transformers, but Sam is clearly a reluctant hero. He and Mikaela located a splinter from the destroyed AllSpark, but he turned it over to her for safe keeping. Sam doesn't give it another thought. He is ready to get on with his life and start college. However, his plans don't get very far. He barely steps foot on the college campus when he starts to see glyphs in his mind. It's a result of touching the splinter. These Cybertronian symbols take over and Sam starts writing them everywhere. His problems are far worse that what his roommate thinks. A Decepticon called The Doctor plans to remove Sam's brain to get the information, but Optimus and Bumblebee come to the rescue. Later in the plot, Optimus is killed by Megatron in the attempt to rescue Sam and the story takes on new intensity.

Autobots, both new and old, have to pull together as a team when The Fallen is freed and Megatron orders a full-blown attack on earth. He requests Earth's authorities to deliver Sam over to them, but the authorities don't have a chance. Sam is on the run. He and his friends reactivate Jetfire through the power of the shard and hope to bring Optimus Prime back to life. It's an action-packs DVD worth adding to your collection.

Transformers 2 New Robots

The new robots introduced in Transformer 2: Revenge of the Fallen, aren't all called by name in the movie itself, but were introduced to the public by name through the Transformers toy line. They are listed here in alphabetical order:

Arcee: A pink Ducatti 848 retroSBK motorcycle, Arcee controls all the female Autobots. Of the new bots, she is the only one called by name in the Transformers 2 movie.

Chromia: Transforms into a motorcycle like her sister, Arcee, but her transformation is into a blue Suzuki B-King 2008 retro SBK motorcycle.

Elita-1: Another "sister" of Arcee. She becomes a purple MV Agusta F4 retroSBK motorcycle.

The Twins: These two talkative characters bring an element of humor to an otherwise intense storyline. Known individually as Mudflap and Skids, these two bots have the ability to combine into an ice cream van. Skids creates the front half and Mudflap the rear. As the plot moves forward these unlikely heros get upgraded into a red Chevrolet Trax and a green Chevrolet Beat.

Jolt: Jolt doesn't appear much in the movie as he was a last minute addition to the script, but this character portayed by a blue Chevrolet Volt plays a role in helping Ratchet hookup Jetfire's body parts to Optimus.

Sideswipe: A silver Chevrolet Corvette Stingray concept car able to use swords. Sideswipe is the bot that slices Sideways (the Decepticon) in half to prevent him from escaping.

Wheelie: Is the smallest newbie, played as a blue radio-controlled toy monster truck. Initially sent to spy on Sam and Mikaela, Mikaela captures the bot and befriends him. He joins ranks with the Autobots.

For hardcore Transformer fans, rumor has it that a Tranformers 3 movie is already in pre-production and can be expected in theaters by summer of 2011. Will there be Tranformers 3 new robots? It wouldn't be a surprise.
