Twilight Fan Fiction
From LoveToKnow Sci-Fi
Twilight fan fiction is a growing phenomenon based on the popularity of the Twilight series. This vampire, fantasy/romance saga includes four novels by Stephenie Meyer.
Edward and Bella
The two main characters Twilight fans have fallen in love with are a teenage girl named Isabella "Bella" Swan and the vampire she falls in love with named Edward Cullen. These books are popular among young adults and have hooked adults as well with 42 million copies sold around the world. This fascination with Edward and Bella has also spurred the imagination of many to write Twilight fan fiction. This market for fan fiction has caught on, and continues to feed the Twilight fans' hunger for more Edward and Bella.
Where to Find Twilight Fan Fiction
If you're an avid reader and wanting more Twilight in your reading diet, you can visit a number of fan fiction sites devoted strictly to the Twilight genre.
Twilighted
Twilighted has almost 30,000 members and more than 1,000 contributing authors. Stories submitted are read and either accepted or rejected based on the Twilighted standards to ensure quality stories that won't disappoint true fans.
When the site started they had a "no censorship" policy, but due to the fact that Twilight is a young adult series that draws teens to their site, they have restricted access to stories that are rated R and NC-17 to adults only. Forums are also restricted to an adult audience, though there is talk of getting teen forums up and running in the near future. However all stories rated PG-13 and below are available to everyone.
When you click on the titles page, the number of entries can seem daunting, but drop down menus allow you to search for exactly the story you're looking for. This can be based on specific characters, the most recent stories submitted, or by their rating. As a reader, you can also give the story a rating with five stars being the best.
Fan Fiction
Fanfiction.net has a special category for Twilight FanFiction with more than 2,000 pages of choices. This site gives you more options in narrowing selections to be just what you're looking for. For example, it allows you to look for major characters on the "A" list and minor characters on the "B" list. You can also choose the length of story you're looking for along with the appropriate rating. Links to reviews are included next to the title to make it easy to see what others have to say about the story before you invest your time.
Fanfiction also hosts a Best of Twilight Community where the best of the Twilight collection of fan fiction is listed.

Fans Who Want to Write
If you've got a Twilight story burning in you that you hope to write, there are a few things to be aware of when you write fan fiction. First, it's not a way to get rich. The characters are not your original creation—at least not the ones that make it Twilight fan fic. Due to this, you'll have to include a disclaimer stating that you don't own Twilight and that you do not and will not make money from writing your fan fiction. That's right. No money, because the characters are not yours to sell.
Another thing to consider when writing your fan fiction is the age of your audience. You'll want to rate your story accordingly. Most sites have guidelines to help you choose an appropriate rating.
Lastly, fan fiction sites allow you to post a chapter at a time. Be sure you don't leave your audience hanging. Make a plan so that your readers will know when to look for your most recent chapter.
