Vamprotica 2005

From LoveToKnow Sci-Fi

What do you get when you bring thirteen writers together and ask them to write about sex and vampires? You get a delightful collection of erotic and romance stories about one of our favorite immortals—vampires! These stories range from sweet romances to spicy-hot erotica. This is not a book for adolescents or those with delicate senses. Here is some information about several of the thirteen stories and authors included in Vamprotica 2005:

Vamprotica

In the Shadows

In the Shadows by J.L. Day that is the only story in the collection written by a man. J.L. is a consummate reader and writer whose writing is often dark and disturbed. In the Shadows is one of his darker works. It is about a vampire on the hunt, standing in the shadows speculating about the turn of human affairs and what God would think of man now. Disillusioned, he sees his prey, a coven of witches as food, except for one. She is the one who will feed not only his thirst for blood but also his thirst for love.

High Heels and Bloodsuckers

High Heels and Bloodsuckers is the brainchild of Casey Pendelton, a Midwest author with an obsession for gargoyles, penguins, and creatures of the night. High Heels and Bloodsuckers takes the reader into the world of the freshly bitten Trish as she recovers lost memories of her introduction into the world of vampires while she tends to the physical needs of her long-time lover. When her actions leave him near death, she swears never again to endanger those she loves.

House Of Pleasure

House Of Pleasure is by Inga Mahn. Steven Phelps is a hard edged, no nonsense security man who is used to working in the more dangerous and shadier corners of the globe, and he is simply the only man COMMTEC executives can trust for the job of trying to recover three engineers who have turned up missing in Calcutta. The clues lead to the possibility of a terrorist abduction, but upon arriving at the last place the mens credit cards were used, it is clear that terrorists are the least of his concerns. Steven is introduced to an unbelievably sexy lady vampire called Yakshi. After showing Steven the grim fate the men he searched for met, she offers him the same challange that she had offered the missing men... "Offer me sexual pleasure and you shall be rewarded beyond belief, fail and the punishment will be severe and swift." Steven is more than up for the challenge, and has a rather interesting plan to beat Yakshi at her own game. But, win or lose, there is no way Steven could be prepared for what happens next... Warning: This book contains adult situations, sexual situations, alternative scenes, bdsm, and adult language.

Love Sucks

Erika Kay wrote Love Sucks. In Love Suck, Miranda is on the hunt. Her need for blood is strong. When she allows herself to be picked up in a bar by a handsome stranger, she knows she will get what she needs. What she doesn’t know is she will get more than she bargained for.

The Hunted

The Hunted by Marianne LaCroix is one of the longer stories in Vamprotica. Marianne is a seasoned writer and artist who is active in the Romance Writer’s Association (RWA), GothRom, Passionate Ink, and First Coast Romance Writers. Andrei is the hunted demon of the night. Jane is his hunter set on killing him, but fate has other plans, and passion clouds the line between who is the hunter and who is the hunted.

Of Elves and Vampires: The Beginning

The warped mind of Ella Scopilo created Of Elves and Vampires: The Beginning. This story is just that—the beginning of an erotica romance between a Creek Elf woman and a French man, as they ward off the vampires from harvesting the magical power of the Creek Elf people. Scopilo is a prolific writer who is having an indiscrete affair with her Macintosh PowerBook.

Other Stories

Other stories included in Vamprotica 2005 include:

  • Sexual Feeding by Alyssa Brooks

  • Darkest Knight by Delilah Devlin
  • Fang Dysfunction by Anna J. Evans

Closing Remarks

Vamprotica 2005 offers a nice variety of stories that range from horrific to downright funny. There is also something included for people who enjoy bondage, same sex romance, as well as those who enjoy light romance, and all the stories remain true to the vampire topic while interpreting the way vampirism works different. From that aspect alone, it is nice to have thirteen vampire stories written by different authors together in one place. Where one author sees vampires as solitary creatures, then next has created entire communities of vampires.

Interested in just reading one of the stories, many of the short stories included in Vamprotica can also be purchased individually at Fictionwise or at Chippewa Publishing.
